Congratulations to our February and March Student of the Months! We are proud of these students!
We have a schedule change to share-
March 19th we will have school until 1:30. March 19th was supposed to be an 11:30 dismissal for a school improvement day. Lunch on the 19th will now be crispitos.
March 26th will now be a day off for students as it will be a staff training day. March 26th is our community vaccination clinic. The National Guard will be at school providing vaccines to school staff from Greenview and neighboring towns as well as anyone who qualifies under group 1B.
Please consider scheduling an appointment if possible. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we make these tweaks to the calendar. Please don’t hesitate to contact school if we can help.

The owl that was rescued at the Greenview Park in the fall is now healthy and will be released today at 5:30 at the park. People are welcome to come watch the release!

Greenveiw CUSD#200, in cooperation with the Illinois National Guard, Menard and Sangamon County Health Departments, and our neighboring school districts, will be having a Covid-19 vaccine “clinic” at our campus on March 26th. There is no cost for the vaccine.
You will be able to get your first or second shot at this clinic. If it is your second shot, you must inform us which shot (Moderna or Pfizer) you first received to pre-order the correct 2nd dose. (Bring your vaccination card for the 2nd dose.)
Appointments will be from 9:30 to 4:30.
There are three ways to qualify for this clinic:

B. If you are 65 years of age or older
C. If you are 18 or older, with a qualifying medical condition (see IDPH for list) https://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19/vaccine-faq
You will not be allowed to get vaccinated if you have had a flu shot in the two weeks prior, or have been symptomatic.
Entry to the clinic will be through the Elementary doors on the northwest side of the building and confined to the main gymnasium. Participants will be temperature scanned before entry and must wear a mask. Please bring ID, proof of insurance/Medicare, and any necessary medical paperwork to verify eligibility.
To register for an appointment, please call the main office (217) 968-2295 between 8:30 and 2:00 weekdays. This is a first come, first confirmed, basis. Do not leave a message. This will not count as a confirmed appointment. Please make a note of the time of your appointment as reminders will not be sent.
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment.

We thank everyone who took part in military appreciation night this evening! We are proud supporters of all those who protect us and keep us safe! We thank the Illinois National Guard for supporting our school and helping organize this great event!

On Friday, March 5th we will have military appreciation night at our high school basketball game. With following protocols things will look a little different this year as far as ceremony goes. We ask any Veterans or Active Military Personnel that would like to attend the game to let us know by Friday Noon. Our guests for the evening will need to be at school by 5:15 pm. We will be holding a special ceremony pregame to honor the hero’s that have defended our nation and the hero’s that continue to serve!

Students in 3rd-11th grades will be taking State Assessments this spring. Letters (attached below) were sent home last month regarding specific dates and information based on grade level. Due to Covid-19, there may be some updated guidance on how our district will handle testing this year. Until then, we will proceed with business as usual! Good afternoon-
Tomorrow Tuesday, February 16th Greenview #200 will be remote learning. Teachers will send out information to families on what students need to complete. We will make a decision on extra curricular activities tomorrow after we can evaluate conditions. Please stay safe and warm conditions are quickly deteriorating.
-Mr. Heavner

On Monday February 15th Greenview CUSD #200 will have a remote learning day due to the frigid cold temperature and the anticipated weather coming to our area. This day will be used for students to catch up on work and teachers to work on lessons. The building will be closed but staff will be checking email and working remotely.
Teachers will send out information if the students need to complete any work on Monday.
All activities Monday will be canceled. We wanted to send this out now to give families time to prepare.
Thursday February 18 will be a remote learning day. Friday, February 19 students will not be in attendance. Those two days we have a large number of staff getting COVID-19 vaccinations and do not have the staff to safely run the school.
Please stay safe and warm!

We have been working very hard to remain in person for students during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a huge shortage of substitute teachers in Illinois and because of the pandemic subs are in tight supply. Substitute teachers are amazing people who are unsung heroes in education. Because subs are stretched thin we have been allowed to use volunteers to help keep the school open if needed. If you would be interested in volunteering at the school please contact Mr. Heavner for more information. We truly appreciate anyone who would be willing to step up. This is a hard time of the year for all of us as we see an uptick in various reasons staff are not here. All volunteer staff would undergo a rigorous background check before being allowed to work with students. We appreciate consideration to helping our staff!

PORTA-Greenview Preschool programs will be conducting a developmental screening for any preschool-aged children on March 18th and 19th at Roots, 14305 State Highway Rt 97, in Petersburg. Areas to be checked include speech, language, movement skills, and basic concepts. The screening takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Children turning 3 & 4 before September 1st, who are living in the PORTA or Greenview School District, are encouraged to attend. If your child is not age-eligible at the time of screenings, but will be 3 in August, please bring them. Please don’t wait to have your child screened! Our program fills up quickly, and then students go on a waiting list. Children must be screened in order to be considered for the 2021-2022 PORTA-Greenview Preschool programs.
To make an appointment, please call Petersburg Elementary School (632-7731), option 2.

Good evening everyone sorry for the late notice but do too COVID-19 issues with the Tri-City junior high volleyball team this evening‘s game is canceled. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times. If you have students at the game you can come pick them up.

Some breaking news: This evening’s game at Delevan for junior high boys basketball is postponed. Volleyball at home is still on. Eighth grade night is still on for girls volleyball. The 5th/6th grade game will start at home at 5:00 pm. Please use caution out and about this evening.
