We are so lucky to have such an amazing staff that cares about children. Today Mrs. Swaar prepared the kits pictured on the table s for her high school art students so they can continue the work they are doing. This is another great example of the way staff has had to think outside of the box to continue student learning! We are so thankful to Mrs. Swaar and the entire staff for all the hard work they have put in!

Good morning! We have a very IMPORTANT request- we are asking the kindest way possible. When the staff drops food or items off at homes PLEASE stay at least 10 feet away from our crew. It is so important that we all practice good social distancing. Everyone has been awesome so far and we are doing great things helping each other in this crazy time. We want to make sure we do all we can to prevent the spread to our team and the community. I do expect more information today from the State of Illinois on the status of school closings. We will share what we learn at the earliest convenience. Hang in there everyone! -Mr. Heavner

On Friday, March 20th, Governor Pritzker issued an executive order requiring residents to “stay at home” effective Saturday, March 21 at 5:00 pm, through the end of April 7. As part of the Governor’s order, he announced that school will remain closed through at least April 8. During this stay at home order, essential school personnel may still report to work as long as they are practicing social distancing. The governor’s office has assured school districts that school personnel involved in providing meals will not be in violation of the governor’s executive order and that we can, and should, continue with our program. The Superintendents’s office and school staff will work hard to ensure this continues. We recognize that this development may raise questions about the impact on students, staff, and families as well as the school’s vital role of providing meals to students and families while schools are closed. We anticipate further guidance and details from the Illinois State Board of Education next week. Right now there are many questions we cannot answer and need to work through things. Schools in modern times have never faced an issue like this. We plan to hold a graduation ceremony and the traditional Spring programs best we can when this all blows over. I ask everyone to take a deep breath and be kind. We will get through this together. It is important to encourage your students to do the best they can. This time should be focused around learning what you can. Be there for each other. Please use this opportunity to focus on staying safe and helping to slow the spread of the virus. As always, thank you for your patience and support as we all work through the COVID-19 Pandemic. As you have seen, this situation is evolving rapidly. As events unfold, we will continue to communicate in a timely and transparent manner. Ryan Heavner Superintendent of Schools

We plan to deliver the Bulldog Spring Apparel that came in tomorrow(Friday) to homes in our district. If you would like to be added to the lunch deliveries please let us know. It is our pleasure to help in this project. We are thrilled with how well it’s going. We ask families that are getting food to have a cooler or box by the door to keep food dry. This would be a huge help if families do not come to the door. We want to avoid wet food for the kids. Hang in there everyone! We appreciate everyone doing the best they can. We appreciate our kitchen staff and drivers they are amazing people and I am so thankful for the way they have stepped up! Please be there for each other. This is such a tough time for many, show people kindness and happiness where you can. -Mr. Heavner -
