Today Logan Doggett would have played on the Tomahawk Conference All Star team in the annual match up in Havana. Logan like many seniors has missed out on opportunities that in a normal year many of them would have enjoyed. Logan has worked hard over the years and played hard for the Bulldogs. We are all very proud of him. We have a great group of seniors at GHS. I spoke with them about the Senior Trip earlier this week and it was a great conversation, they understand what’s going on and did a great job as they shared ideas. We came to the conclusion when we return to school we will work to put a great plan in place. It’s important that these students get the recognition they deserve when this is over. I’m proud of all of our students and super proud how this group has shown leadership with the other students as this week unfolded. Our seniors and many students at schools all over are not going to have a normal finish to the school year. Who knows what the next batch of weeks will bring. I think about our students who work so hard to prepare for events that have been canceled or are now on hold. I think about our 7th and 8th graders who had been excited to travel to New York and DC this week. The students had been thrilled to go but took the news of postponement very well. This whole situation is hard on our students. I encourage everyone to acknowledge the great things students are doing at all schools! Although our Bulldogs are not going to be at school for a while, we are going to do our best to keep them moving ahead! I thank Logan for his hard work and I’m thankful for all our students who work hard and are doing great things! -Mr. Heavner

This is the text from the conference call with Governor Pritzker yesterday our leadership team was a part of. We are working hard and updating everyone best we can. We have a lot of work ahead at Greenview #200. Starting Tuesday we will deliver lunch to all students at no cost during the closure. We are currently developing this plan today. We will get this information out as soon as possible how to get on the delivery list. We will work together to make the best of this situation. I’m so thankful to our staff for working so hard getting things in place. I will send out information this weekend about the upcoming weeks. Please message me if I can be of help. -Mr. Heavner From Gov. Pritzker: “Thank you for your time. We are in unprecedented times. Our efforts have been focused on the public health of the people of Illinois and that includes the nearly 2,000,000 students that gather in large groups every day in public school classrooms. Later today my administration is issuing a directive to public school districts in Illinois to close for classes starting on Tuesday, March 17 and returning on Monday, March 30th. We will actively assess the situation through this time period for the possibility of further closure if public health risks continue past this date. Our decision is guided by science and information health experts have provided my administration. Here’s what we know... Today, we are taking the following decisive steps to support you as administrators and the children you are charged with educating. I have instructed the Superintendent of Schools and my legal team to prepare an executive order to relieve schools of certain state mandates during this period to give you the flexibility undoubtedly needed during this challenging period. In regards to state funding dollars that your budgets for the current fiscal year are built upon, I know that many of you have concerns about certain programs where levels of funding are derived and distributed from direct classroom instruction or direct services you provide on a daily bases. While I don’t have all of the answers to how this valid question will be answered, I want you to know that no school district's funding will be cut as a result of this public crisis. This may require waivers from the federal government, legislation from the General Assembly, adoption of certain administrative rules or a combination of the above…. Again, I am making the commitment that you will not lose state resources as a result of this closure. In this regard, I have been in contact with Senator Andy Manar and Representative Jehan Gordon-Booth who are joining us on this call. I understand that no two districts face the exact same set of challenges. To this end, I am taking two steps with likely more to come as this fluid situation evolves: First, the Illinois State Board of Education will be fully staffed over the coming weekend and during the closure period to answer all of your questions as you work through individualized issues in each of your districts. Second, I have asked Dr. Brent Clark at the IASA to put together a team of experienced superintendents to help be a resource should you need it. Dr. Clark’s team is and will be communicating regularly with Deputy Governor Jesse Ruiz. Dr. Clark & Deputy Governor Ruiz will be communicating to you how to be in touch with this group should you need their help working through specific challenges. We are all in this together and I will have your back."

Spread the word! This afternoon Governor Pritzker closed all the schools closed March 17 to March 30. We will have school this Monday unless things change. If you do not feel comfortable sending your students Monday they are excused, just call on Monday. The Jr High Dance this evening is still on. We will be updating families with information as we have it to share. This is an unprecedented situation and we will try our best to make good decisions for our students. We intend to provide lunch to students over the next few weeks. I will send out information at a later time how that will be a arranged but we intend to deliver lunches to homes. Please message the page if you have questions or email me. Please be there for each other we live in a great community where we look out for each other and step up when needed.I am very proud of our staff for how hard they have worked this week to prepare for a scenario like this. During this time school is canceled campus is closed. There are no activities and events planned. Currently the plan is to not make these days up at the end of the year. There will be no practice for teams. If we can provide assistance CUSD #200 will do our best to help. Please ask if help is needed as we are in close contact with state agencies and the health department. We appreciate the support of the school in these tough times. -Mr. Heavner

Please help up spread the word! Thursday, March 12th is our final informational meeting on the school renovation and construction referendum. The meeting is open to all and will begin at 6:30 in the school library. Election Day is Tuesday, March 17th for voters in Menard County. I encourage you to attend the meeting if possible or contact me if you have questions. This project will improve the everyday educational experience for all students PK-12.
