Important COVID information

We have some important updates to share: We are aware of the ruling in Sangamon County and are trying to decipher what and how this applies to us. We will have some updates tomorrow afternoon to share with our community. Please be patient as we just don’t have all of the answers folks may want. With the weather that’s gone on and COVID issues our high basketball schedule has some big changes: Monday- home vs Springfield Lutheran Tuesday- no game Wednesday- no game Thursday- @ Lowpoint Washburn Friday- Senior Night home vs Havana Saturday- ECIC Tournament We are holding our Biddy Cheer Clinic this week! This will be no cost as we have had some very generous sponsors. Practice will be Tuesday evening 5-6 and Wednesday evening 5-6. A note will come home Monday. The cheerleaders will preform at 1/2 time of the Friday Night JV game on 2/11. We appreciate everyone hanging in there with us. We are really doing the best we can with so many things we are battling. Please reach out to a staff member if you have questions!

This evenings High School basketball game will be rescheduled. We will have further updates today on other events and activities this weekend.

With current road conditions and extreme cold coming in to our area Greenview CUSD #200 will be closed tomorrow Friday, February 4th. This will be an elearning day. As teachers have trainings tomorrow, there will be limited work for students to complete. Teachers will be in contact. We will update everyone tomorrow afternoon on games and practices if they can be held safely. Menard County road commissioners have asked to avoid travel today unless it’s an emergency. All Greenview students will be e learning tomorrow Thursday, February 3rd. Teachers will be in touch with details for student work. We will update everyone on the plan for Friday by midday tomorrow. Please stay safe and warm!

With the forecasted weather for tomorrow Wednesday, February 2nd Greenview CUSD #200 will be in remote learning. With the forecasted winter storm we want to give families the ability to get plans in place for children. Teachers will be sending information out to students and families on what work to complete. With the volume of snow predicted we will make the call on the other days this week as it gets closer. Families should be prepared for alternative plans for students if we get the volume of snow that is forecasted. Stay safe and warm!

Tomorrow is the 100th Day of School! We will have some fun around the school and celebrate the hard work of our students and staff! We are proud of our Bulldogs!

Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of our control the high school boys basketball game this evening 1/22/22 against Illini Bluffs starting at 5:00 has been postponed to a later date.

We had a very generous delivery from the Central Illinois Foodbank this morning to distribute to the community. We have beef, apples, tomatoes and food boxes. We will have a pick up times: tomorrow Saturday January 22nd 4-5 pm Tuesday January 25 5:30-6:30 Please pull behind school by the bus barn and remain in your vehicle and staff will walk out the food from our shed. The food is free for all who wish. It is open to folks from Menard, Mason and Logan County. If you cannot make either of these pick up times please let us know we will be happy to try to make alternate arrangements. We are thankful for our volunteers and glad we can help so many people!

We are continuing to push ahead in the school year and very proud we are keeping things going. We have great days and tough days but we make the best of it. The Greenview staff has worked very hard to keep things best we can during the pandemic and trying to limit impact to students. All schools are facing staffing issues these days and we can’t thank the staff enough for all the unexpected ways everyone has stepped up. The care and effort of our staff is exceptional! The last few weeks have been difficult but worth keeping our students in school. If you may be interested in subbing at school please consider reaching out to Mr. Hoerbert or Mr. Heavner. We would be happy to chat about opportunities we have. We have a variety of roles to fill and can provide training to help you be successful. We have amazing students and staff members and we would be glad to have more people come on board and join us. We thank our families and community members for hanging in there with us during these bizarre times. We are looking forward to a great 3rd quarter ahead! Sports update-- The junior high volleyball match that was originally scheduled for January 18th, 2022 @ Illini Central at 6:00 PM is now moved to January 17th, 2022 at 4:00 PM @ Greenview Schools.

With cold temperatures please make sure students are dressed appropriately for winter conditions. Kids love outdoor recess and have a great time outside but we want to make sure they are safe and warm! If students need winter gear please do not hesitate to reach out as we have a well stocked supply we would gladly give to anyone that needs winter gear! Let’s keep our Bulldogs warm!

This morning after a discussion with the county health department we have been informed of some COVID isolation and quarantine updates: -Students or staff that are positive or exposed can now return to school after 5 days from a positive test or the onset of symptoms. -Students and staff that return must wear a mask for 5 days after their return. -As testing supplies are now low in many areas we will only be testing people that display COVID symptoms. We will do our best to test community members we can. If you need help please email covid@greenviewschools.org -We are anticipating some further updates soon. These changes are a positive development to help keep our school open for students. Our staff is working hard to give students the best effort we can. We will update everyone as we get further clarification.
